Clearer Layout Setup: Locations, Tracks & Industries

The "Switching Area" / "Location" naming is being replaced with vocabulary that matches how modellers actually talk about their layouts. After community feedback, the final names are Location (a town, yard complex, or staging area) and Track (an individual siding or track within it).

The hierarchy reads: Location → Tracks → Industries. Nothing changes about how your layout operates — this is a rename and a UI reorganisation. The backend has shipped; the new nested tree UI is rolling out in the next update.

Session status bar

A persistent bar at the bottom of the screen shows your active session at all times — car count, progress, and a quick link to jump back to it. The dispatcher panel auto-collapses when a session starts so the session is always in view.

Dispatcher conflict panel — Spot & Hold

When two cars compete for the same industry spot, the dispatcher panel now presents a decision UI rather than auto-resolving silently. The system recommends which car to spot based on priority, wait time, and car type — but you make the final call.

  • Spot — commit this car to the industry
  • Hold — park it at the yard until next session

Priority freight

Waybills can now be marked as priority freight (perishable or time-sensitive). Priority cars sort to the top of spotting conflict lists and are highlighted in the dispatcher panel with a priority badge.

AI features help text corrected

The Help tab now accurately describes which AI features are included with your subscription (car identification, industry suggest, commodity suggest) and which require a paid Gemini API key (stylized illustration).

Google Analytics — understanding demo engagement

Added engagement tracking to better understand how demo visitors use the app. Events tracked include: switch list generation, session start, session completion, and dispatcher plan builds. All tracking is anonymous and aggregated.
